bbbf2c49ed Drop $GLOBALS['charset']. 
It was anyway always set to utf-8 so it does not make sense to keep it
as a variable.

c0c5723b20 Do not show 'Please select a database' when it is obvious. 
This makes sense when there is select box, but for list it is not
needed.
